What is the St. Benedict Fund?
The St. Benedict Fund is our most important giving priority. As a Diocesan Catholic High School, we rely on philanthropic support to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost to educate each student. The largest source of non-tuition income is the St. Benedict Fund. This fund drive kicks off in the fall with a direct solicitation. Throughout the school year, donations are received from parents, grandparents, alumni, friends, faculty, staff, businesses, and corporations.
Your tax-deductible, unrestricted gift is the best way to make a meaningful difference in the breadth and depth of programs and resources available to our students and keep an SBA education more affordable for families. Only you can decide what an appropriate gift for your family is.
When you make an unrestricted gift to the St. Benedict Fund, you are providing resources for:

Where does my gift actually go?
Your gift goes into the unrestricted operating budget for the current school year, supporting classroom resources, faith formation, financial aid, technology, extracurriculars, and more!
Because it’s unrestricted, it can be applied exactly where the need is greatest.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. St. Benedict at Auburndale is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and gifts to the St. Benedict Fund are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You’ll receive a receipt for your records after your gift is processed.
Why isn't tuition alone sufficient?
Most people are surprised to learn that tuition does not cover the total cost of educating each student. Gifts to the St. Benedict Fund support that gap and keep a St. Benedict education more affordable for our families. For SBA to provide an exceptional experience to our students and families, we ask for active participation in the life of the school.
Participation comes in different forms, but we ask that families and alums offer a financial gift to the St. Benedict Fund according to their ability to give. These tax-deductible donations range from $10 to $25,000+ and are recognized between July 1 and June 30 in our “Honor Roll” philanthropy report. Strong parent and alum participation makes a statement to our external community when considering their support. Every gift matters and will make a difference in the daily experience of our students.
How do major gifts fair with the St. Benedict Fund?
SBA is incredibly grateful for the leadership of loyal and generous benefactors. Current parents, alums, grandparents, and parents of alums are counted among our most generous philanthropists. All donors are recognized each year in our annual report. As you consider your annual gift at any amount, please consider joining or moving to the next giving level.
Why does the 60th anniversary matter for this year's fund?
Sixty years of St. Benedict at Auburndale exist because generations before us chose to invest beyond tuition. This anniversary year is a chance to honor that legacy and strengthen the foundation for the next 60 years — every gift this year carries that extra significance.
If I can't make a large gift, does a small gift even make a difference?
Yes! SBA values every gift regardless of size. Last year, donations of $100 or less contributed to more than 30% of our St. Benedict Fund! Every contribution is greatly valued, and your participation ensures the strength of our school year after year. You can significantly impact our students each year for the cost of a family movie night or meal at your favorite restaurant. C
How long do I have to make a gift to the St. Benedict Fund?
The St. Benedict Fund is designed to support students and faculty each academic year. SBA’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. Donors are encouraged to make a gift or pledge early and can fulfill their gift any time before June 30. Donors can maximize their gifts by scheduling contributions in smaller and more convenient monthly increments.
How can I make a gift in honor/memorial of someone?
Memorial and tribute gifts are special ways to honor friends, family, and loved ones. Indicate the individual(s) you would like to honor or whose memory you would like to recognize online or on the St. Benedict Fund card you return with your gift.
